Challenge
The company wanted a replacement for an obsolete vulnerability scanner and a patching tool that would support endpoints of employees working from home. Given the challenges with WSUS, the company was faced with requiring employees to return to the office or sending IT staff into the field.

Solution
The company evaluated several vulnerability assessment solutions including Tenable and validated that BigFix could indeed patch endpoints without needing a VPN connection. Tenable was chosen because of its ‘best in class’ Vulnerability Management reputation and offerings as both an on-premises and cloud offering. BigFix was selected because it is recognized as an industry-leading management solution that can deploy software updates and patches to remote endpoints with or without a VPN connection.

By implementing the solution, the company was able to:
- Deploy software updates and patches to remote workstations
- Eliminate dependencies to a VPN connection for endpoint management
- Automatically correlate vulnerability findings from Tenable with BigFix Fixlets
- Improve ability to quickly remediate discovered vulnerabilities

Transformation
The company, prior to BigFix Insights for Vulnerability Remediation, was deploying critical patches from the BigFix console using, Tenable's vulnerability assessment solution, and then ‘staring and comparing’ against the results. The time to correlate the vulnerable findings with available patches was challenging and time consuming. After deploying BigFix Insights for Vulnerability Remediation, the company could see the available patches alongside the list of prioritized vulnerabilities identified by Tenable without having to manually correlate the results.
