Putting the power of innovation in your organization’s hands is a crucial element for expanding development opportunities through no-code and low-code development tools. At HCLSoftware, we are busy helping you build and deploy enterprise-ready digital applications without the need to write a single line of code. Our development team continues to deliver new capabilities to make creating apps faster and easier than ever.
Our latest low-code releases, HCL Leap 9.3.7 and HCL Domino Leap 1.1.5, are now available for download and bring some exciting new features that can help simplify app creation. These include the ability to use Volt Foundry services, updates to create from a spreadsheet, improvements to the Custom Widget API, and numerous usability improvements.
Leap integration with Volt Foundry enables Leap administrators to expose Foundry services and authorize which Leap users can access them. The beauty is that Leap authors can build apps with these services without having to know they emanate from Foundry. In fact, they simply see entries in the service catalog and can map them into their apps – just like any other services. The Leap administrator sets up the use of the service by entering the Foundry app’s service URL and credentials. Leap discovers the services in the Foundry app and sets up a dynamic connection. This means that if there are any additions, changes, or deletions to services in the Foundry app, they are automatically reflected in Leap.
Also with our new and improved “create app from spreadsheet” capability, Leap now creates an app page with a data grid, which serves as a dashboard. From the app page, you can view data, open records, and create new records. Navigation between the dashboard and form is built automatically. This provides the user with a complete solution and takes advantage of features like app pages, data grid, and navigation recently added to Leap. It also saves significant time compared to the earlier version of the "create from spreadsheet" feature.
The Custom Widget API now supports array data. This means you can add your own widgets to view and collect array data. For example, imagine being able to enter information in a repeating section instead of a table in Leap. A repeating section is inline and is a much cleaner user experience for collecting array data. An example repeating section widget is included in the Leap documentation.
Other new improvements include changes to the rules dialog to be able to sort rules alphabetically and a change in how the logic is presented to make it easier to understand. Adding and deleting rows and columns in the grid are now easier as well. You’ll see new hover icons that help guide you through the process.
These new Leap enhancements continue our commitment to deliver the strongest and most agile low-code development platform available and to increase app dev velocity and capability. Whether you want to improve the customer experience, maximize operational efficiency, or just accelerate innovation, Leap empowers business users and IT developers to get more work done faster.
