We're excited to announce the launch of the Early Access Program (EAP) for Domino v14.5, beginning in September 2024. As we prepare for the mid-2025 release, we’re rolling out four code drops over the coming months, each packed with enhancements and new features built on the foundation of Domino v14, so upgrading will be simple.

EAP is open to active support and licensed customers, ambassadors, and business partners of any Domino offerings. By participating, you will have the chance to try out the latest features as they become available and provide your feedback directly to us in the Early Access forum.

Here are the key features you can explore in EAP drop #1:

Domino

AutoUpdate

We have enhanced AutoUpdate and added the install capability for Windows and Linux platforms. Now, not only can you schedule and distribute updates, but you can also automate the installation process across your servers. This simplifies the administrative effort in keeping your Domino platform current and minimizes downtime, allowing your team to focus on more strategic tasks. Additionally, the AutoUpdate task is now supported on AIX platforms.

DAOS Improvements

A new DAOSTune application allows administrators to optimize the server configuration for better performance and efficiency, highly recommended for planning new DAOS deployments and optimizing existing deployments. The DAOSmgr task now offers a new command option that allows for repairing a specific database, a feature Domino customers had been eagerly anticipating.

OIDC Provider

With Domino v14.5, your organization stays ahead of the curve by adopting the latest Single Sign-On (SSO) standards through the integration of the Domino HTTP server as an OpenID Connect (OIDC) provider. This enhancement enables Domino to serve as a central authentication authority without the need for external services, streamlining user access across multiple applications and services.

Designer

Welcome Java 21

Create cutting-edge applications with Designer v14.5, utilizing the newest features of the Java language. With Java at its core, Domino developers can benefit from optimizations that improve runtime performance, memory management, startup time, and more.

Notes

Notes Basic Mode Support for 64-bit Clients

Users can now launch the 64-bit version of Basic client using the -sa option on notes.exe, initially available in English and expanding to additional supported languages in later Early Access drops.

Enhanced Security and Control for Online Meetings

In Notes v14.5, there are new improvements to online meeting settings that provide users with greater control and security for their virtual meetings. With these enhancements, you can now manage important security settings, such as join rules and presenter permissions, directly from your Notes Calendar invitations. It ensures that your meetings are more secure and organized, reducing the risk of unauthorized access and disruptions.

Support for Sametime Web Chat/PWA Clients

By popular demand, Notes-embedded Sametime client users can now connect to the Web Chat/PWA client, enabling access to new and enhanced collaboration tools and communication options. Users can enjoy a modern chat experience all while maintaining the Notes embedded contact list and inbox/calendar awareness. For more information on this new feature, click here.

Move to Verse from iNotes Web Mail

As we continue to further advance our product capabilities, our focus is on the technologies that will propel us forward. With the release of HCL Domino v14.5, the iNotes web interface will no longer be available, and we encourage you to switch to the enhanced Verse interface. iNotes will still be available in Domino versions up to 14.0, and for those who need continued access, we recommend maintaining a Domino v14.0 server for business continuity.
