HCL Named to Leaders Category in New IDC MarketScape Reports on Worldwide Application Security Testing, Automated Software Quality

Publish Date: April 18, 2022

HCL has been named to the Leaders Category in three new IDC MarketScape reports1 around Application Security Testing (AST) and Automated Software Quality (ASQ). HCLSoftware’s complete suite of products is increasingly being used by Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 companies worldwide, working to protect their corporate-critical digital assets every hour of every day.

The IDC MarketScape reports for AST and ASQ noted, “HCLSoftware's primary differentiators are related to the breadth of capabilities in the company's testing products and how they are delivered. The OneTest family of products and AppScan provide broad coverage of quality and security testing needs. Combined with the company's DevOps products, Launch for deployment, and Accelerate for value stream management, continuous testing is realizable.”

HCLSoftware has focused on scaling its coverage of quality and security testing capabilities with continuous investments to its HCL OneTest family of products and HCL AppScan. Combined with the company’s complementary DevOps products, HCL Launch for deployment, and HCL Accelerate for value stream management, HCLSoftware delivers a continuous testing portfolio to its customers. In addition, the company is meeting the increasing demand for quality and security testing across a wide range of platforms and environments. Last summer, HCLSoftware released HCL SoFy, enabling cloud-native access to all HCLSoftware products with the option to deploy to any public, private, or hybrid cloud.

According to the IDC MarketScape, “One of HCLSoftware's major strengths is the breadth of its coverage of quality and security testing capabilities, complemented by a tightly integrated DevOps portfolio and flexibility offered by an open architecture with third-party vendors and open source software. In addition, HCLSoftware's keen strategic focus on augmenting product capabilities in the high-priority areas of security and microservices, as well as evolving areas like digital quality via cross-platform testing in OneTest Embedded, positions the company well in a crowded space.”

The IDC MarketScape reports added, “Customers with whom IDC spoke emphasized the strong product support offered by HCLSoftware. For example, one customer noted it has regular meetings with product management where it discusses its experiences and suggestions, and felt it influenced product road maps. Customers also cited significant impacts after adopting HCLSoftware's products, with one seeing its time taken for DAST reduced from days to one hour and another noting that more than 50% of its more than 1,400 applications are now being scanned automatically.”

“The continuous dialogue that we have with our customers has never been more important as the risk of application attack surface becomes more prevalent,” said Raj Iyer, Senior Vice President of Product Management at HCLSoftware. “The experiences and suggestions of our customers drive the investment and innovation of our products ensuring that we are one step ahead in protecting their companies against the latest threats and vulnerabilities.”
